The Good Lives Model (GLM) as a research subject

grounding & research areas

The Good Lives Model (GLM) is a scientific model in criminology, psychology and social sciences. It is part of an active international research dynamic, driven by the international board and its francophone partners.

Developed in response to criticisms of the RNR model (Andrews & Bonta, 2010), the GLM has been the subject of extensive work on its effectiveness, clinical implementation and fidelity. It informs a wide range of research areas: desistance, victimology, mental health, restorative justice, positive rehabilitation and the criminology of trust.

Desistance & life trajectories

Forensic mental health

Adversity & trauma-informed approaches (victimology, aggression studies)

Restorative justice & GLM

Model fidelity

Sexual violence, child sexual abuse material & domestic violence

Violent radicalisation, supremacism, religious, political and gender separatism
